Fire at Smiley’s Antique Mall

January 24, 2017

Dear Valued Dealer,

As you may have heard, our beloved Smiley’s Antique Mall in Micanopy, FL had a fire early yesterday (Monday) morning. Unfortunately, it appears that everything on the East side of the building was completely destroyed by the fire. The remainder of the building and contents suffered extreme heat and extensive smoke damage.

We are so sorry that we all have experienced such a great loss, yet very thankful that no one was in the building at the time and no one physically injured.

It is incumbent that in order for us to move forward, and for your merchandise security, that all merchandise be removed from the mall as soon as possible. Accordingly, Smiley’s personnel will be on site to have the mall accessible for you to remove your items on Thursday 1/26, Friday 1/27, Saturday 1/28 and Sunday 1/29 from 9am-6pm. Smiley’s staff and other personnel will do their best to help you move heavier items if needed.

Please know that even though we are making the building as safe as possible, there is debris, loose flooring, heavy lingering smoke, soot, etc.. It is advised to wear appropriate clothing, footwear, breathing masks and gloves when in the building.

In the meantime, please know we are securing the building and the integrity of the items in the building to the best of our ability.

We want you to also know how much we appreciate each of our dealers and to thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time of loss for us all. Of course, we will keep you informed of our plans moving forward.

We are so very thankful for all the first responders who worked hard and long in containing the fire.

Warmest regards,

Ben Sr., Ben Jr. and Ashley Campen
